The expedition (4)

The fourth hash of the day lay on top of a forested hill, in the backcountry of a suburb of Hannover. relet reached the suburb, parked his car, and proceeded by foot. Where the road ended, a footpath climbed the steep hill, through the forest. With a dense canopy of trees, the full moon did not quite reach the forest ground, so that relet had to scramble by the backlight of his camera and cellphone. Worse though, the GPS did not get a decent bearing, despite the external antenna.

Relet climbed the hill, drank a weird refreshment of elderberry and chilli, and waited for the bearings to settle down. It turned out that he had to redescend the path he just came up. The hash point itself was located a few meters off the path in the thickets. Given the lack of light and determination, relet declared the approach to be good enough[tm]. The readings of the GPS still oscillated by some 20-25m and would not improve when hiding in the bushes.

Well refreshed, relet now travelled north to the next hash point.
