Hello, fellow geohashers of the Frankfurt graticule. I'll be in your graticule on the mentioned weekend and would like to do at least one geohash if it's close to Frankfurt. Is there a traditional saturday meet-up? Are there geohashers in Frankfurt willing to go with me? More specific plans will be made, when the geohashes are known. --Koryu 06:29, 20 June 2012 (EDT)

Hey there and no, there's no traditional meetup. We've got several hashers around 50,8 which generally only go to a hash if it's close to their respective position. Myself, LadyBB and EmmJay will be attending a wedding on the weekend so we won't have much time. I'll alert QuarterCacher, M and Ricki as well. If there is a suitable hash, I'm sure we'll find someone to meet you :) - Mampfred 10:43, 20 June 2012 (EDT)
I am one of those hashing in 50,8 when it's not too far. Send me an email and I'll give you my mobile number. Sunday doesn't really sound probable as I am invited to a birthday. Let's see if we can meet one of these days, anyway. Rincewind 16:52, 05 July 2012 (EDT)
Hey,thanks for answering. I think the hashes for friday and saturday are too far away. Those are the ones I wanted to do anyway, because sunday I will leave. So unfortunately I won't be going on any, but just now I'm on my way to do a difficult geocache with a '24' theme. --Koryu 11:02, 6 July 2012 (EDT)
Well, that's the usual coordinate gamble. Have fun caching then. Maybe some other time or some other coordinate with someone else. ;) Rincewind

Hello fellow Geohashers! I am planning to visit your graticule and the Star Trek Convention at Messe Frankfurt on this weekend, and following that some sort of travel to Nuremberg for a trade show. Besides asking if anyone wants to geohash (depending on coordinates) I would like suggestions for lodging on Saturday Night. Thanks! --Thomcat (talk) 18:13, 10 February 2014 (EST)

That's cool, let's see how the coordinates fall. I can't recommend anything since I had just two nights in Frankfurt in fifteen years, but looking at hrs.com the "Europa Style" seems like a winner with decent ratings and 62€ a night with 4 HRS stars. On a first glance, that's the best price ratio located within the city center. Yet, I do NOT know the hotel. If you need any help concerning travelling to Frankfurt, you may send me a PM. Hope to see you this weekend, Rincewind (talk)
Looking forward to it! I have my Nürnberg hash card punched; maybe this year I will get lucky in Bamberg. --Thomcat (talk) 10:25, 12 February 2014 (EST)
We'll see, how your and our luck runs. Why don't you send me your mobile no. by mail, then I can try and reach you easier. Mampfred is interested, as well. When do you arrive? Rincewind (talk) 08:40, 13 February 2014 (EST)
Definitely interested. And when do you leave? :D - Mampfred (talk) 12:00, 13 February 2014 (EST)
Email sent to Rincewind. Will arrive 11am Feb 22, departure likely to be Feb 23, time flexible. --Thomcat (talk) 13:39, 13 February 2014 (EST)
Wow, that's a short window. Btw: if all else fails you could crash on our couch but we're a 30 minute train ride from Frankfurt (S2, Niedernhausen) and it's only a small flat with a two-year old running around ;) On the other hand, we're only 20 minutes from the airport ... - Mampfred (talk) 13:45, 13 February 2014 (EST)
Flexible for Saturday/Sunday geohashes, fitting it into a business trip :) Until we get the points on the 21st, we won't know if it's a real trip. Want to plan a retro hash meetup for a backup plan? On IRC also, if you want to chat further. --Thomcat (talk) 14:01, 13 February 2014 (EST)

Yes, I know it's already the day after tomorrow, but everything has gone between "will go", "might go" and "can't go" so often that I still refuse to call anything "definite". However, currently it looks like if I will be at Frankfurt on saturday and will have the afternoon free. I might even have a ticket for several people available. If you are interested in a meetup, drop me a note. Best would be to include your phone number, so I can call you when I know more. --Ekorren (talk) 10:11, 6 March 2014 (EST)

Hi Frankfurt - I'll be staying with a friend in Uettingen (near Würzburg) this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, but may also be interested in going over to your graticule one of those days... especially if there's a convenient hash! I will be on the lookout... -- OtherJack (talk) 18:37, 12 October 2014 (EDT)

Ack. Ping me again if convenience applies and we'll try to get a meetup together :) (speaking mostly for the SW of the graticule) - Mampfred (talk) 02:23, 13 October 2014 (EDT)
Yes, also for me it would only be practical if a point fell into the southern part of the graticule. (Or northern part of Würzburg graticule... I posted there too, of course.) -- OtherJack (talk) 03:41, 13 October 2014 (EDT)
I keep reading 'convenient' and 'practical'. Tbh those three days are the worst possibly choice from my pov ;) But what the heck, maybe we'll get lucky and the global hash is right in the middle of Würzburg and Frankfurt :D Either way, we'll see what we can do. - Mampfred (talk) 04:07, 13 October 2014 (EDT)
Haha it's ok, there is no need for us to meet! I was just putting out the possibility but if you're busy, you don't need to make it worse. In any case, we'll see where are the coordinates. -- OtherJack (talk) 08:31, 13 October 2014 (EDT)
I'm totally fine with making it worse to get to a meetup, don't worry ;) - Mampfred (talk) 08:41, 13 October 2014 (EDT)
2014-10-15 50 8 => I'd say that's a no. - Mampfred (talk) 11:23, 14 October 2014 (EDT)
Yeah agreed! I have no bike or car here, just public transport. So I can reach Frankfurt city and areas easily accessible from there, but not much else... will keep looking out for points later in the week... -- OtherJack (talk) 16:47, 14 October 2014 (EDT)
though actually, the point 1 graticule east (50 9) looks like it could be accessed from Frankfurt with a valiant effort involving a train to Glauburg-Stockheim and then a 4km walk each way. I could do it theoretically. -- OtherJack (talk) 17:00, 14 October 2014 (EDT)
the nearest railway station is Bleichenbach, 300 meters to hash! but there is a strike at the railway company today, be careful! --GeorgDerReisende (talk) 17:36, 14 October 2014 (EDT)

Anyway, I've now realized it's much harder to get from my friend's place to Frankfurt than I'd thought, so I'm not nearly as keen on doing this anyway as I was yesterday. I'll just be looking in the Würzburg area now... sorry! -- OtherJack (talk) 05:18, 15 October 2014 (EDT)
