From Geohashing

That's a fantastic Puppet Master! Good job! Like for the Geohash by proxy achievement, the appropriate category is "Coordinates not reached" (since they aren't reached in person), so I changed that.

I drive by the Campbell Barracks every other day and I fear the day I'll have to talk to the guards (armed with machine guns) because a hashpoint is in their base. I think they'd just shoot me. --ilpadre 07:39, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

But the puppet did reach the coordinates SO, I am changing it back. If there is no point in reaching the hash point there is no reason to do the puppet master achievement.
I do see how you can become very confused about the Geohash by proxy achievement though. On the Geohash by proxy achievement you can only claim coordinates reached if actually in fact the device did make it through that days coordinates. If not, I could fly a kite out of my back porch and claim the Geohash by proxy achievement even though the coordinates could be 60 miles away. My proxy didn't make it 60 miles away, so I could by your terms still claim the award. My puppet made it. If your proxy passes through, you can also claim it.

You're right, the hashpoint was reached by somebody. The coordinates don't care whether it was you or your puppet, so "Coordinates reached". Sorry for the confusion I caused, things like that should have been clarified on the achievement page beforehand. (For a proxy it's still "not reached" by the way, since they weren't reached in person by anybody. The proxy achievement is just a cool consolation prize.) --ilpadre 13:54, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Good job. Bummer I was not there or we would have gotten in. Next time. Hope to hit a meet near you soon.. --Bos 20:41, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Woo! That ROCKS! -- relet 20:50, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
That's great. That's exactly what I had in mind when I thought of the achievement. I too am a little disappointed that the proxy achievement doesn't count as reaching the coordinates,I would give Dawidi coordinates reached for his, but he wrote it that way and I guess he's right that no ONE reached them. -Robyn 22:14, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
