The second Air Geohash flyover!
On August 12th, amfarbs was pilot in command of an instructional flight with EvilTaylor, and brought in the coordinates for the day's geohash on his fancy new 3G iPhone. They set out to deflower the Tucson, AZ graticule and pick up the second ever Air Trophy achievement. Required proof in the photos below.
We took off from Tucson International and flew through Reddington Pass. Tucson Departure cut us loose shortly after and we started squawking VFR as amfarbs and I discussed how to nail the coordinates as precisely as possible. We maneuvered to fly a 360 track to simplify the matter, and amfarbs took the first picture for our proof. Then he took the controls and GPS to show me up while I took the picture. Afterwards we did some ground reference maneuvers and stuck around the area to practice for my upcoming PPL practical. After we returned we discovered we were also the first to visit a geohash site in Tucson, thus earning the Virgin graticule award!
