Expedition

Bishop Wash: I have a friend who's taken me to a few geocaches. In return, I've told him about geohashing and he's started following the daily locations. He sent me a message at work that today's hash was relatively close to his house and wanted to know if I wanted to try it with him. We planned to meet at his house after work and drive over to it.

When we neared the location, we came upon a barrier in the street the GPS unit was directing us to follow. It was the end of the neighborhood and the geohash was in an undeveloped part of town. We turned around and headed back to the main road. We followed it north and were able to enter the area were the hash was. Although undeveloped, the streets had been laid out and graded at one time. It was odd to follow the GPS's directions and be turning down dirt streets in an otherwise barren desert. We found the spot, parked the car and stood in the middle of the dirt street. Our respective GPS units locked in on the location, but we were about 10 feet from each other. We both had ±15 feet accuracy, so we were okay. He turned around and drove through the hash at the highest speed that was safe for the undeveloped road.

We are waiting for the next geohash that is close and hope to reach it.
