2008-05-24 was the first Saturday meetup since the project went public. The coordinates for the Chico, California graticule were actually rather a long way from Chico, near Yuba City, California. The exact coordinates were reachable, being in a grass field beside a road.

Dr Turner took a photo of his GPSr at the exact point and time, then hung around at the edge of the field until 4:10 PM. The weather was grey and cold, with drizzle just before the meetup.
