From Geohashing

Ok, it doesn't look right just now. As soon as I work out why that is...

Looks fine now :) --joannac 14:54, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Aussie Shaped

Hey. I hope you don't mind me making that minor edit to the shape. I think it looks better when it is shaped like Australia. Feel free to undo if you want. --CJ 23:38, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

<3 CJ --joannac 23:42, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

It's beautiful, CJ, thankyou very much. I owe you one. --UnwiseOwl 10:44, 9 October 2008 (CDST)

Looks lovely, look forward to checking it out properly when I get out of -37 140 and back to a decent internet connection! Kate 15:08, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Some Minor Changes

Hi folks. At the risk of stepping on peoples' toes, I made some littleish additions to the map. It's very awesome, by the way.

  • First, I continued each row out to the eastern border, so it no longer halts abruptly at the east cost.
  • Second, in each graticule I added a link to the [[LAT,LONG]] page for that graticule. This will greatly help people like me who have been going around making graticule pages completely unaware of this groovy project and naming things mostly at random, so we can try to unify the names in those few places where we differ.

I hate editing things in other peoples' user namespace. Feel free to roll back any changes you don't like. Hopefully it's okay.

By the way, what's it like living in a graticule that doesn't suck? --Matty, 01:56, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Living in a grat that doesn't suck is pretty darn great! I've only got one hash in my grat, though. Thanks for all the work you've done, hopefully it should make it easier for people to get around, but the two links thing might be confusing. Hopefully there won't be a need for two links once we make sure each graticule is labelled by it's name...We'll see, eh? --UnwiseOwl 11/10
Yeah, I was thinking that myself; it looks a bit messy. I've only noticed two or three differences between what I'd done and what you'd done, so that was easy enough to merge. --Matty, 02:39, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Alternate Map

Yo Owlboy, I found a typo (and fixed it). Also lookit http://geohashing.kerwin.net.au/australia-map.php --Matty K 10:48, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Naming System

Your naming system is most excellent, very clearly defined and explained, and really quite similar to the one I used. As the two were independently derived, it is evidence that it is a good system. The major difference is that I have used bodies of water before mountains and you have done the reverse, but that difference is well suited to our respective wet and dry countries. -Robyn 18:35, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

VIRGIN GRATICULES MAP

mate this is fantastic!!! been looking around for a virgins map of oz or states, and can't find anything - map, list or otherwise of graticules and the number of successful hashes in each. reckon this could be a good template for one if there isn't already, although not sure about how to incorporate past hashes without someone very dedicated (is there any way to make it automatic?). at the least we could make a start by making a page with this and link to it from the Virgin Graticule page, rather than the Australia info page like other countries are doing. any comments? ~ User:Phi-loci-raptor

Yeah, not sure what the answer is to that one there, Phi. I just sort of got bored one day and you can see the result. These days, the best map resource you're likely to find is http://home.widicam.net/geohashing/ExpeditionGraticules/ , but I have no idea how up to date/accurate it is. Good luck, and if you find what you're lokking for please let me know, I'm not active these days, but it's only a matter of time until I'm back in the saddle again. wOl.
