From Geohashing

Nice prairie hash - and welcome to geohashing! I'm originally from Evanston myself, and have occasionally hashed near Chicago while on vacation. There seems to be a few active-ish people in the area besides you, too... -- OtherJack (talk) 00:35, 30 September 2013 (EDT)

also, this Sunday's globalhash is in Western Kentucky within striking distance of you (at least for a weekend road trip!) See at http://geohashing.info/ -- OtherJack (talk) 09:57, 17 April 2015 (EDT)
Shoot, it's on the property of the Armstrong Coal Company's East Fork mine. The area adjacent to the point looks active too, with some kind of logging going on within the last year or so. If I had the day off work I would try it out and see what I could manage. As it is, I don't like the idea of calling off work to get arrested 5 hours from home :( Mystrsyko (talk) 10:40, 17 April 2015 (EDT)
You have to work on Sundays? That's a bummer in and of itself. But no I don't want you getting arrested either... though you could always try for the Ambassador achievement... -- OtherJack (talk) 10:44, 17 April 2015 (EDT)
...and now it looks like User:NWoodruff got it! Without even being arrested. See over at Globalhash. I'm really interested to see the full writeup when he gets around to it... -- OtherJack (talk) 00:52, 20 April 2015 (EDT)

Feb 2015

Thanks for the congratulations. I had fun that month! Should there be a ribbon? --Sourcerer (talk) 09:57, 16 April 2015 (EDT)

Active users page

How is that page supposed to work? I searched for some names I know from the top of my head that all have more than 100 expeditions (dawidi, relet, ekorren, there's many more), and none of them are on that list at all. But somehow, I with my meager expedition list am on there? I don't get it. --CO2 (talk) 18:56, 17 June 2015 (EDT)

NWoodruff explained it at the very bottom of the talk page on the most-active-users page. Basically, his code only scans the list of "active users" which means only people who have geohashed in the last 30 days. He says eventually it will include everyone. Anyway, just go over to Talk:Most_active_Geohashers/old, scroll to the bottom, follow the links, and I think it will make sense. -- OtherJack (talk) 20:54, 17 June 2015 (EDT)
Until NWoodruff automated it, my manual counts had over 400 users tracked from January 2013 to the present. I still intend to finish my manual counts through 2008 eventually, and only then would the charts be any sort of "accurate".Mystrsyko (talk) 21:54, 17 June 2015 (EDT)
Ah, okay, thanks for explaining. I didn't get from the page itself that it wasn't supposed to be complete yet. --CO2 (talk) 02:11, 18 June 2015 (EDT)

Shotgun

Hi Mystrsyko

I believe I have fixed the problem you identified in Shotgun.

Could you confirm whether your search is now giving the results you expect?

Many thanks
