From Geohashing

Hello, everyone! Feel free to drop me a note here.  :-) --excellentdude 05:47, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Welcome, excellentdude! Have fun in the wiki and outdoors! :D -- relet 22:01, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
That replying question is a longstanding uncertainty in wikis. If you edit someone else's user talk, e will receive an email and a message box. That's good to keep in mind for important questions. Replying on the same (f.e. your own talk) page has the advantage of having a consistent discussion thread (and assumes that the other person has the page on its watchlist, or reads the recent changes anyway). People do both, at will and random. -- relet 23:01, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Heh, regarding Relet's question, for example I came to your page to reply because I knew you were new and thus I couldn't count of you having your preferences set up properly to get a notification that I had replied on my own page. With a regular user I would have replied on the same talk as they asked. You probably got everything with the change you made, which sounds like a good change, and provided that you renamed the page with the move command and didn't just create a new one and delete the old one, anything you missed won't matter. The peeron page will update on its own in a few hours, maybe a day. It is linked to the All Graticules page. Welcome, and happy geohashing. -Robyn 01:12, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Also I upgraded the Traverse City page a bit, with a map, and so people could tell who "I" was. It still needs you to add some details about the graticule. -Robyn 01:31, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, that wasn't me. It was from someone anonymous awhile ago. I was going to clean that page up and make it more like the other ones, but I hadn't gotten up there just yet.  :-) --excellentdude 01:34, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Woohoo! I went on my first geohashing trip today! More details to come after dinner.  :-) --excellentdude 00:19, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Hey, everyone! Any ideas why I can't get all my ribbons to stick right on top of each other like the first two? --excellentdude 00:39, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

There's some inconsistency with ribbon spacing. To remove the extra space, remove the newline between the }} (end) of one ribbon and the {{ (start) of the next ribbon. I've edited your page in case that's unclear (it probably is). --joannac 01:01, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
Nope, very clear! Thanks! --excellentdude 01:10, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Hey everybody! I was wondering how you all are getting the coordinates for today and the weekend? The peeron map keeps saying that market data isn't available for 1-30 for me. Also, the date pages, such as 2009-01-30 don't agree with my geohashing iphone app. I'm a little confused. --excellentdude 15:27, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Well, it's better now, for the most part. I guess the map just took a bit to load the market data today. It agrees with my iphone, but not the date pages. --excellentdude 15:40, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Did you attend U Tennessee? NamGeunGen and I grew up in Kville and also went to UTK.--LuxMundi 15:06, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

On graticule formats

There's a conversation about neighbor link formats going on over at User talk:ReletBot. I used your name there, since I saw we were having similar problems. See also User talk:ReletBot/Graticule format --starbird 05:26, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Hey excellentdude. In the discussion about customizing graticule templates, we have proposed a template to be included on pages that wish their graticule template to look different. If you agree with the idea and the wording, could you include it on the graticul pages that you wish to keep in your local format? Thanks a lot!-- relet 08:55, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Champaign/Urbana, Illinois

I noticed you're maintaining this page. Is the graticule still active? -- Jevanyn 14:33, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Hey, Jevanyn! My apologies. While I've barely been geohashing here and there, I really haven't had time to update my part(s) of the wiki in a good little while. I geohashed there once, I travel through there a fair amount, but it's not my home grat or anything. Anything I do there will be sparse. I'm not sure what the criteria are for being Active or not. So, I guess, do with it as you will (if you haven't already since it's taken me two months to respond). Thanks for asking, though. And if you want to take me off as maintainer, you can. Cheers! --excellentdude 17:57, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

I'm back in the area fairly reliably now for the semester, so feel free to give me a poke if you're looking at a hash and would like company from an almost random stranger. =) --ddpej 02:11, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
