From Geohashing

Welcome to geohashing in the northwest! -- OtherJack 23:43, 7 January 2013 (EST)

Thanks. I look forward to finding the oportunity to go out and do it again. -- Eldin 15:20, 12 January 2013 (MST)

Hi Eldin, thanks for cleaning up all my geohash-reports :) Cheers, Felix Dance (talk) 03:34, 3 July 2013 (EDT)

No problem. I injured myself a couple weeks ago and haven't been able to go out hashing. So I've been working on cleaning up the wiki instead. --Eldin (talk) 03:37, 3 July 2013 (EDT)
I'd like to +1 User:Felix Dance's comment. -- Stephen Cerruti (talk) 18:47, 30 July 2013 (EDT)

Wow - I now see that you did quite a lot of work updating the Grand Rapids MI graticule page. Thanks for the effort! Mcbaneg (talk) 11:31, 26 July 2015 (EDT)

Yeah, I've been off-and-on working my way through the list of graticules with any expedition report assigned to their meetup category ([[Category:Meetup in LAT LON]]) and making sure any reports of actual expeditions in that graticule are either on the graticule page, or easily found from the graticule page. I'm up to about 44 degrees north so far. --Eldin (talk) 12:30, 29 July 2015 (EDT)

Doubt

We (SysDragon and me) have a doubt you may know: Our familiars now do geohash and they went to the same geohash a different hours. We added one (2013-09-07 38 -0) for the first one but we dont know how to approach the second expedition. The page is already created with the first event. How we must proceed?

You should add the writeup of your separate expedition to the same page. There's an excelent example of using one page to document multiple expeditions at 2009-07-11 49 -123, or a somewhat simpler example at 2013-08-04 43 -116 (one of my own expeditions). --Eldin (talk) 22:28, 7 September 2013 (EDT)

Thanks

Globalhash

Tomorrow (Tuesday's) globalhash isn't too far west of Boise... if I'd noticed it this morning and had the day free I might have tried to drive down there. But you should go for it! -- OtherJack (talk) 01:54, 24 September 2013 (EDT)

I noticed that this morning, and I'm seriously considering it, though it will depend somewhat on whether or not I can get off work at a reasonable time. --Eldin (talk) 01:58, 24 September 2013 (EDT)
Well I hope it works out! Still bummed that I didn't notice it until now (11pm night before...) -- OtherJack (talk) 02:04, 24 September 2013 (EDT)
Seconded - I *just* sat down to look at that, after checking that today's geohash was too far off the normal route much earlier. An 834 mile round trip would have been more tempting this morning. I'll bet there's a great view of comet ISON in the dark middle of Oregon. --Thomcat (talk) 02:15, 24 September 2013 (EDT)
Yeah, I was just about to ask you whether you noticed this too... -- OtherJack (talk) 02:22, 24 September 2013 (EDT)
It's about a 450 mile round trip for me, but it's the first globalhash I've noticed since I started geohashing which has been realistically possible to reach. Though it stretches the bounds of practicality on a weekday. --Eldin (talk) 02:40, 24 September 2013 (EDT)
Yeah. I've got the same problem, but coming from the other direction. 6 hours of driving. But it is tempting.... Jiml (talk) 02:43, 24 September 2013 (EDT)

We've got a page now. 2013-09-24_global

Well, I was still considering trying to get off work early to go for this when I left this morning, but work held onto me until late enough that it was questionable whether I could even have reached the hash before midnight. --Eldin (talk) 02:10, 25 September 2013 (EDT)
Darn... -- OtherJack (talk) 02:31, 25 September 2013 (EDT)

Lewiston - Sept 26 2015

Hi Eldin - very likely to make a try for the Lewiston, Idaho hashpoint on Saturday early afternoon. Any inclination to join me? --Thomcat (talk) 15:18, 25 September 2015 (EDT)

Much as I would have loved to, I'm currently out of work and can't justify spending most of the day driving for a geohash. --Eldin (talk) 17:09, 26 September 2015 (EDT)
