Ed lives in Swansea (in graticule 51, -3 with easy access to (the Welsh bit of) 51, -4). He doesn't own a GPS unit or a radio (or indeed any form of motorised transportation), so it's good old-fashioned printouts of Google maps and spotting local landmarks for him. If you see someone wandering around looking confused near a hashpoint, it's probably him - feel free to talk to him.
