From Geohashing

Today I learned that many rivers in this corner of Europe are named (Something) Aa, which to me looked like Scandinavian Å, meaning "river". Indeed, they are cognates. [1] [2] Something I didn't know despite knowing quite a bit of German. ― Kripakko (talk) 20:56, 28 January 2024 (UTC)

Cool expedition by the way, looks like something I might also encounter exploring some scrubby riverbanks. My web browser doesn't like the report though: Firefox on Android can't decide in how many rows to split the photo gallery, and consequently the page jumps around when I scroll. ― Kripakko (talk) 21:12, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
