From Geohashing

I'm sorry that we still disagree. You did not successfully stand at the hashpoint. You stood seven meters away from the hashpoint. It was not due to you making an educated guess because Google is quite clear in Canberra where the hashpoint is. You just couldn't trespass in order to actually stand at the point. That's fine. Please call it a "No Trespassing" hash rather than a successful hash in order to maintain the integrity of the game.

In fact, the process of going to the door to knock and ask if you could stand on the hashpoint would have actually carried you over the hashpoint, yes? Why not try for ambassador in that case? --Thomcat (talk) 05:12, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
Since the hashpoint was just a few yards away and easily accessible (no fences etc.) I think you are a bit nitpicking there. In the FAQ it says: "You should be reasonably certain that there are no more significant obstacles between you and the uncertainty bubble of the geohash.", which is the case here IMHO. But I agree that generally one should actually try to get to the point. If one cannot reach it (whether it's on private property, on a body of water or otherwise inaccessible) it is no shame to mark the expedition als coordinates NOT reached. --Solli (talk) 10:46, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
