Didn't feel good about going to do this one because of said mansion and gate. At least someone did!

I've heard some reasoning behind the dichotomy of housing, as you put it, from a coworker who has lived here longer than I, revolving around Mathews Bridge, connected to the Arlington Expressway. Previously, it was a toll bridge, and it kept the urban environment on the west side of the bridge and Arlington was all well-to-do houses at a minimum. When tolls were abolished in the late '80s, that dichotomy sprung up shortly thereafter. The central areas of Arlington have increasingly become less safe and gang violence is on the rise. The one area that's largely been left unaffected has been the waterfront.

And that was the Jacksonville trivia for tonight. - DrCanadianNinja (talk) 01:14, 27 July 2014 (EDT)
