From Geohashing

To Do: Add ribbons

Discussion:

  • Bicycle was walked up hills. Does this count for the Bicycle geohash achievement?
  • Path was crossed to take out Ingress portal and correct GPS readings at hash point. Does this count for Tron achievement?

If you crossed your path... No TRON, sorry. And I think you should believe your GPSr reading and not Google. Having said that, if you have a proper GPSr, my phone has a very crappy one wro distance to go, although the coordinates match with the Oregon 450 readings most of the time. --Palmpje (talk) 06:53, 1 July 2013 (EDT)

I am not taking Tron for this one. In this case Google was spot on and my phone was off. If you look at the track log, from the moment I turned onto Avenida de la Plata it was off by 50m. At the point I decided to turn around and confirm it was a GPS error it actually locked in, I just didn't notice. Long story short, if I had turned off my track log for my Ingress portal work and then been patient at the hash point I would have earned the achievement. However, since you can only earn the achievement for the first time once, I would prefer to save it for a time when I get it clear. I believe that my current residence is ideal for earning a Tron. I may create a throw away honorable mention ribbon though.

I am probably going to take the bicycling achievement. Even though I walked a great deal I am uncertain that without advances in medical technologies I will struggle to make this achievement. This was the closest hash point to my home I've seen so I am going to grit my teeth and take the ribbon. Stephen Cerruti (talk) 19:42, 1 July 2013 (EDT)

Oops, I guess I'm not taking bicycling either based on this from Bicycle Geohashes "completely qualify for the Bicycle Geohash award (for which the whole distance must be cycled, " :-( Stephen Cerruti (talk) 19:51, 1 July 2013 (EDT)
