From Geohashing

Marker

We left our pile of stones in the heather at the hashpoint, so it would probably have pretty difficult to spot in the dark. In hindsight perhaps the nearby path would have been better. There was also a random post in the middle of the path just after the hashpoint, which we contemplated writing on, but didn't have any means to do so with us. Annoyingly this is now the second time I've made a geohash marker out of dead twigs, and both times someone else has gone there after dark and not spotted them! --PaintedJaguar (talk) 03:27, 3 June 2013 (EDT)

Earliest geohasher achievement

Is it really right to have been awarded this? My reading of the award page is that you have to be first there, and actually meet someone: "Think of this ribbon as a reward for getting to the coordinates early and waiting patiently for stragglers to arrive. It's very rewarding to be there to welcome people when they arrive at a meetup." If you don't have to meet someone, then I can claim it for an earlier expedition as well. --PaintedJaguar (talk) 03:27, 3 June 2013 (EDT)

That's how I'd read it, too -- a meet-up has to actually happen for the achievement to be awarded. By the way, if anyone does organise an actual meetup in the Norwich grat, please let me know! :-) — Benjw  {talk} 09:16, 3 June 2013 (EDT)
I've read the rules again and, of course, you are right. Please consider yourself de-awarded! MagicIan made the same mistake when visiting 2013-02-10_52_1 and I copied his example. --Sourcerer (talk) 06:00, 9 June 2013 (EDT)
