From Geohashing

The Plan

thepiguy will be available for hashing by 14:00.

The S6 to Starnberg Nord runs every 20 minutes.

Meet at the Hbf and head off from there?

I have trains arriving at the HBf from Regensburg at 12:17, 13:15 or 14:17; the next S6 after those times would get us to Starnberg Nord at 13:02, 14:02 or 15:02. I guess it'll take about an hour per direction if we really walk to the hash, so we should start as early as possible... is your 14:00 the earliest time you can be at the HBf? --dawidi 23:13, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
I'm taking a free walking tour of Munich that starts at 10:00 and is somewhere around 3 hours, I'm also not sure where it ends. If you take the 13:15, I can meet you as soon as possible though. It shouldn't take that long to get back. Thepiguy 23:48, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
Ok, so it seems like my drag-along and I will very likely join you. We have guests for dinner, but if we make the Spätzle in the morning and thus reduce the evening duties to just turning them into Käsespätzle, it might work: Leave M Hbf around 13:45, arr Starnberg Nord around 14:15, walk to the coordinates (1h) and back (1h), with some time added so we are not in a hurry (0:30) leave Starnberg Nord 16:45, back at M Hbf 17:15, back home 17:45 -> This will work! It'll be dark around 16:30 anyway. --Zb 10:46, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
Right... so we'd meet at the HBf (exact location tbd?) sometime after my 13:15 train arrives, and take the first S6 we can get after Pi shows up. --dawidi 11:10, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
A good spot to meet would be at the North end of the station's main hall. This is at the end of Track 26, where trains from Regensburg usually arrive anyway. It's also close to the stairs that lead to the tunnel where we have to take the S-Bahn. There's a somewhat yellowish coffee and snack shop. Why not meet there? --Zb 11:28, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
Yellow coffee shop at the end of track 26. Check! I'll get there as soon as possible. Thepiguy 11:46, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

Just to be on the safe side: If I don't show up at the time mentioned, please feel free to leave anyway. Looks like I'll make it, though. You will have GPS receivers so I won't need printed maps? --Zb 17:51, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

Yup, I barely ever leave the house without my GPS, and certainly not on a geohashing expedition :) --dawidi 18:01, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
I have a car GPS that should take care of the map issue. (I take no responsibility for getting us lost though!) Thepiguy 18:46, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
Awww... Sorry, but I won't come along. Yesterday night, just after I said you should go no matter if I'm there or not, my bike broke and I figured I need to take care of it today in order to be able to use it next week. Enjoy the forest!--Zb 10:50, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
Well, sorry again for not coming along. At least it seems the effort of spending the afternoon with the details of my bike's hub gear was a success. --Zb 21:40, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
