From Geohashing

I've been there! Your description snapped it back, clear as day. The Cutty Sark was being restored then, too: I don't know if it was the initial restoriation or after some intermediate disaster. I saw the foot tunnel, but the person I was with didn't want to go through it because it was just a nasty old tunnel. She didn't understand the intrinsic coolness of walking under the Thames. I can picture the pavement along the walk from there up to the observatory. it is and was indeed a famous place that I think anyone who knows the slightest about the history of navigation must recognize by name. Been there, got the pictures. Instead of posing on the line, my friend and I are posing in front of the clock, using our arms to indicate the time in our home time zones. Thank you for bringing that all back.

I destroyed a pair of trousers geohashing in thorns, so perhaps you're just wiser than me. -Robyn 01:44, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Some hefty trousers and a bit less concern for my general wellbeing might well have earned me three successes out of three attempts so far. If you're offering... ;o) -norsemark 09:31, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

So it turns out that I wasn't being decieved by my device - there's an article on wikipedia about the very issue which demonstrates an identical distortion. Phew! -- Norsemark 22nd June 2009, 09:15 (UTC)
