From Geohashing

(I assume you were there too, would like to read about it... hope you're not upset by my failure to show up :( )

Yup, I went and found the spot. Enjoyed it despite the cold rain. The hand-drawn map was mine. Detailed report and pictures to follow tonight or early next week. And no, I'm not mad for not meeting anyone else; sorry I left around 5:30p. By the way, is there a definition somewhere how close you have to get to a spot to count it as a success? I think the place where I left the hand-drawn map was close enough to consider it a success, wasn't it? Is there a wiki page about how close you have to be?
Not that I'm aware of. Standard policy seems to be that you have to be closer than the uncertainty in your position measurement and there can't be any known obstacle between you and the real position - and since my GPS showed about 20m to the north at the fence, at a precision of 5-7 meters, it doesn't count as reached.
Ok, I get it. I don't have a GPS, but as you can see on my map, I marked a dot between the buildings inside of the fenced place. So the uncertainty is about the same as with a GPS, because the dot is about 2/3 of the line from the South building to the North building inside of the lot, and definitely not outside of the fence where we were. I agree: Failed attempt, but nice try.--Zb 14:11, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Ok, my text and pictures are up. I'd say it was worth the effort. Let's hope for better weather next time.--Zb 21:46, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
