From Geohashing

Alternate Locations?

Perhaps we could use the 38,-119 (South Lake Tahoe, California) graticule instead? -- Moose Hole 16:39, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

I'm of two minds here. On the one hand, the water geo hash achievement is a rare one in our graticule, and would be fantastic to earn. Plus, I adore going to Pyramid Lake, and the hash point isn't too far off shore; I could easily swim there and back. On the other hand, it'd be nice to meet our neighbors. I've set up voting on the mapping site. The blue point corresponds to our neighboring graticule, since I couldn't get the real point to stick. Let's see what happens (I'm pulling for Pyramid!). -- Paveman

I mapped it out and the point is more than 500 feet off shore. I'm not sure you want to swim that far with a GPS device (is yours waterproof)? Also, unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to make it tomorrow at all, wherever it is. -- Moose Hole 03:00, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

The manual says it's waterproof "to 1 meter for 30 minutes." My camera, not so much. Thanks for pointing out the good alternatives, by the way. -- Paveman

You had me worried. Glad to see you're still alive! -- Moose Hole 22:31, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Rides

Once again, I am offering rides to any registered hashers. Please leave replies here if you need a ride to the location. I can only take up to 3 more hashers, and I respectfully ask for a little fuel fundage. -- Paveman
