Very nice! How many tries did you need to make it look like that?--Reinhard 15:56, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

That was the third try, I think - but the problem was more in getting the ambient lighting right, than the "writing" itself. We already practised LED writing at various geohashes last winter :) --dawidi 16:12, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

Next time, you might wanna try using an infrared TV remote control. It would be amazing not to see it with the eye while you're doing it, but only with the CCD chip of a digital camera... You also could use different commands (VOL+, PWR, CHANNEL-, whatever) for the different letters and it is likely the codes will show as different dash/dot patterns in the lines... Hint: Whenever somebody wants to know if their remote control is dead, just look at the transmitting end through a digicam -> fast & easy troubleshooting! --Zb 09:07, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

Hmm, good idea. I've been shooting infrared since 2003, first with my main camera and a filter (loooong exposures), and since 2008 with another, IR-converted camera (normal shutter times in daylight). And I know about the remote control test too :) But I hadn't thought about combining that with the long-exposure lightmark photography. I shall try that soon (if I find a working remote, that is). --dawidi 09:50, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
I guess the loooong exposures might also be an issue when writing with a remote. Modern (visible light) LED lamps tend to have much more power than IR remote controls. But still, it might be worth trying... --Zb 10:11, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
