The Barkerville graticule is located at 53,-121. The historic gold rush town of Barkerville and the arts-focused town of Wells are located near the southern end of the graticule, as well as the western portion of the renowned Bowron Lakes canoe circuit. The middle contains much of what was once considered the largest clear cut in the world (the Bowron, one of only two man-made things visible from space, the other being the great wall of China). The northern portion includes a lonely stretch of Highway 16 between McBride and Prince George, the communities of Dome Creek, Penny (which still gets mail by train), and Longworth, as well as Purden Lake provincial park (and resort and ski hill).
