This graticule belongs to the Southern Ostrobothnia region. The biggest population centres are Kokkola and Kauhava, smaller municipalities include Lappajärvi, Vimpeli, Kruunupyy, Kaustinen, Kälviä and Kannus.

The most famous natural formation in the area is Lake Lappajärvi, a lake formed in a 23 km wide meteorite crater.
