Plans

I noticed in the morning, that this hash is less than 1km from where I'm staying at the moment. As I have a day off, too, this should be very easy.

chemluth: I noticed this point yesterday. I was motivated by Klaus reaching it, so i plan to set out in the evening.

Expedition

I started walking at around 11:50. As the whole walking distance back and forth was less than 2km, I decided to walk a few hundreds meters more and to visit the "Zeppelin-Stone".

In 1908, a zeppelin had to do an emergency landing there because of a motor defect. Ten thousands of people came to visit the zeppelin, however in the afternoon a thunderstorm teared the ropes apart, the zeppelin drifted away and exploded, after the hydrogen was ignited by static electricity. This was bad luck for Zeppelin, who wanted to demonstrate the capabilities of zeppelins. However there was a lot of sympathy of the people and they raised 6.5 million goldmark to build new zeppelins. This was the short version, for more details you can read the German Wikipedia.

The geohash itself was easily reachable near on the small street Stuetzlesweg. At 12:18 (after visiting the zeppelin stone), I reached it and walked back home where I arrived at around 12:30.

chemluth: I delayed for a while until i realized, that I had to start now if I wanted to get there and back by daylight. So i started cycling from Möhringen at about 20:20. The weather looked quite threatening towards the east with dark skys and a beautiful display of lightning. But is was far enough away and the winds didn´t bring it closer.

On my way to the hash I also visited the Zeppelin-Stone. I reached the hash point at 20:45 and took some photos and ate some biscuits.

On my way back i suddently found myself in a swarm of may bugs / cockchafers / doodlebugs. I hadn´t noticed them on the way to the hash, so they must have just started swarming. There were really a lot of them and they were very annoying, because they constantly tried to land on my head. I have never seen so many of them at once. They were hard to photograph since they moved fast but I managed to take a blury shot of one that was crawling arióund with a broken wing.

I reached home just as the sun was setting.
