Plans

To complete my Reverse Regional Ribbon for counties in the Buffalo Graticule, I'm going to cross into Canada for today's hash. It should be a very easy expedition as it's in an empty lot next to a small plaza with parking. There is also a geocache close by so I'll walk over and see if I can find that for another Hash Collision honorable mention.

This is the first attempted hash in Canada from the Buffalo Graticule.

Expedition

I had an early afternoon meeting to register with a transition company that my former employer is paying for. It sounds like there is a lot of benefit I will get out of working with them. Getting ready, I was sure to grab my passport and directions to the Peace Bridge before leaving home.

After leaving their offices, it was a simple drive downtown and to the Peace bridge. Now, I just had to get through customs. Living so close to Canada and having cousins across the border, I've made many trips growing up. My parents drilled into us that you are polite, answer all the officers questions and don't do anything stupid while at the border crossing. Needless to say, talking to customs has always been a bit nerve-wracking for me.

The guy had no issues though when I said I wanted to do some geocaching in Fort Erie and I was through in a few minutes. Taking the second exit off the QEW, I was at the plaza and parking a few minutes after that.

Hopping out, I walked over to the hash, did a short GPS dance and zeroed right in. Just like that, my Reverse Regional ribbon is complete! I then walked around the corner and found the close geocache for the Hash Collision.

On my way back to the USA, I stopped at the park along Lake Erie and took some pictures of the Buffalo skyline. One of the only decent places that have an unobstructed view of downtown.

Getting back in the US, the Customs lady also thought nothing of a quick trip across the border for GPS games and I was on my way home with no issues.
