Participants

Expedition

Hailstorm and +7. Finnish summer.

Pastori and The Wife had received an invitation to participate the public defence of the doctoral thesis of Pastori's nephew. The event was taking place in Helsinki. Being keen geohashers, they decided to lengthen the trip a little. They started their journey two days prior, making a swerve to the east first, before heading to the capital city. And look at that, a very easy-looking hashpoint in a yet-unvisited graticule was waiting its conquerors!

Pastori waiting eagerly for The Wife to complete her photographing, so he can start towards the hashpoint.

After driving 410 km through a hailstorm and numerous rain showers in the Finnish ”summer” temperature, +7°C, Pastori parked with only 20 meters to the point. Irritatingly, the point seemed to be on the back yard of a single family house. Pastori courageously entered the bushes and stepped towards the house. About 5 meters from the point, he saw the curtains move and decided to slip away not to cause any unnecessary palpitations for the residents of the house. He considers this was accurate enough. Our journey continues tomorrow towards the the next unconquered graticule. Stay tuned.

[Editor's note: looking from the National Land Survey's map, the point was about 25-30 meters from the house. Judging the picture below, you probably were far enough to be on the point, the gps was probably a bit slow updating.]
