Expedition

First Geohash this year. And of course one of the category "Juja sent me there". I didn’t look for the daily coordinates for a long time and so I didn’t know that the tools I normally use, don’t work anymore (at least not today). Good for me. No coordinates, sorry, can’t go there - perfect excuse. Only it didn’t work for a long time. It took a few minutes and Juja sent me the coordinates.

But wait. There is another reason, why I have no time. The car is at the repair shop for inspection. And I have to go there after work to get it back – perfect excuse. Only it didn’t work for a long time. I got a call form the repairman "Oh sorry the spare part we need, will not be available before tomorrow."

Well then let’s go geohashing. I went by bicycle to Winzerla and parked it at the bottom of the “monk hill”. The rest of the way I walked up the hill on a small idyllic path through the forest. Some meters before the point there came an even larger (but less idyllic) path from a different direction an led directly to the clearing the point was located on. Very absurd, a path directly to the point, no mud, no brushwood.

10 meters behind the point there was cliff leading straight down 50 meters (sensed not measured). Before the point there once has been a fence, designed to prevent people from falling off the cliff (by accident or intent), but the fence has vanished over the years, only the piles are still standing - not close enough to inhibit geohashing access. When having a look down the cliff I found the hashmark left by some aliens on geohashing tour (see picture below). But they missed the point by 200 meters. So alien technology can’t be that good. A failure of 200 meters is quite a lot. But nevertheless the first geohasher award goes to our extraterrestrial friends.
