The Wife enjoying a skiing trip.

Yesterday's snow storm brought about 15 cm of new snow, and this morning Pastori and The Wife woke up into a beautiful morning with about -5°C and the birds weren't singing. After breakfast they put skiing clothes on and glided onto freshly maintained skiing tracks. After enjoying the perfect Lapland skiing weather for about 1,5 hours, they started to examine the possibility of going to the day's hashpoint in this graticule, which was only about 1,765 km away.

The depot of the track-maintaining machines.

The day's hashpoint was indeed close, but oh so difficultly behind almost a half a meter of untouched snow. The first approach was by car, with which we could get to about 1,36 km from the point, but then ended up to the depot of some massive skiing track maintaining tractors, which blocked the advance of our little Yaris.

The second alternative was the road of Winter Driving Action Park, and we got to about 1 km from the point before getting our car stuck on a snow bank. Luckily with The Wife's powerful shove we could get the car moving again and onto a more supporting road.

Pastori's feelings when he sees the skiing track is unmaintained.

The third alternative was to go by foot, but that way we only got to about 1,5 km from the point before encountering fresh snow and a closed skiing track. Pastori had the previous day tried the buoancy of the snow and deemed it impossible to ski with the narrow skis he had in the snow without any tracks. Additionally below the 0,5-1 m of snow there could be anything from unfrozen brooks to unpredictable boulder fields.

So Pastori and The Wife made a common decision to make this a failed expedition. Anyway happy with that, they called it a day and retired to their cabin to wait for the next day and further geohashpointchallenges.
