At the border of an SCE substation on the Palos Verdes peninsula (Long Beach, California graticule).
This will definitely NOT be a 4:00pm meet-up, as Christmas party plans interfere. I plan to attempt this at about 9:00pm.
With today's hash point so far north in my home (Los Angeles, California) graticule, it would have taken an hour and a half to drive to the point from my house. But this also put the neighboring (mostly-ocean) Long Beach, California point on dry land and within reasonable reach.
Driving from Arcadia after a Christmas party, traffic was light on routes 10, 710, 105, and 110. Because Boppy5 had to work at 4:00am the next morning, I traveled alone to this one. A church parking lot allowed drive-up approach to within 30 meters of the meetup spot, and then a nighttime zigzag push through some oleander led to the meet up spot on an open hillside between houses (above) and an electrical distribution substation (somewhere in the darkness below). I arrived well after the preferred 4:00pm meetup time, but, at 8:11pm, it was not as late as I had predicted.
I snapped some evidence shots, returned to the car, got a photo of the church that provided such helpful nearby parking, and returned home.
