On a bit of logged land north of Aberdeen / Hoquiam.
There really were no plans until just before leaving the house! We were headed for the Seattle hashpoint, and on the spur of the moment decided to do Olympic as well!
After hitting the Seattle hashpoint, we decided to continue on to the Olympic hashpoint. Multihash, here we come! It got dark fairly quickly, but at least it wasn't raining as it was on our attempted hash in Snoqualmie yesterday. And on unfamiliar roads with deer and elk around, we took it slower than the posted speed limit.
The scan from Google Maps showed the hashpoint in a logged area. We weren't sure if it was a construction site or a new development or private property, so we were quite unsure what we might find. It turned out to be private property--and in fact, the hashpoint was almost right in a bonfire that the property owners were having!
Since the owners were standing right there, I decided to try approaching them and letting them know who we were and why we were there. They had indeed heard of geocaching, but were quite surprised and even incredulous that today's random location was right in their yard! Heidi and Shane were very friendly to us and graciously allowed us to put up our poster marker. They (and Shiloh) even got a photo in with me for proof of our meeting! We had a nice chat by the bonfire before we headed back out to Seattle.
