No plans were involved; just a last-minute run out the highway.

I got home from work around 5:15 and found my son playing video games. He reported having no homework, so I pried him away from the Wii. We were on the road by 5:45, and by 6:00 we had found the fenced cornfield with the No Trespassing sign. The hash was over almost before it began -- we went to Culver's for a hamburger instead.
It was still good to get out. We saw a few soaring birds of prey; my son also saw a nursing foal, but I missed it (paying attention to the driving) and when we went back to try for another look, the little guy wasn't hungry anymore. We took its picture anyway.
