This hashpoint is a short detour from my drive home, so I drove there after work.

Expedition

It's been a very long time since this graticule had a hashpoint that was both reasonably close to me and remotely accessible (meaning: not swamp/ocean/farm). So when I found to my amazement that I could escape from the office today while there was still some daylight left (sort of), I jumped at the chance to hit this one. In fact, it's about 0.5 km from my dad's house, which is also where I grew up. So maybe this is a Retroactive Honorable Mention Couch Potato Achievement?

The hashpoint is in a neighborhood called Plantation Acres, which bills itself as "A Horse Community". And indeed, between the hashpoint and the main road I saw a paddock with a sign referring to horses and dressage. I had to look those terms up afterwards - I'm not a "Horse Community" person.

I parked on a lawn across the street from the hashpoint at about 7:13pm. Google Maps had indicated that the hashpoint was in the attached garage of a house, and near the outer wall, at that. I considered walking up close to the garage to get within a couple of meters of the appointed location, but there were neighbors standing around chatting and I didn't feel like explaining what I was doing skulking around a house like that. So I took a couple of pictures and drove back. I guess my closest approach, at the end of the driveway, was about 10-15 meters.

On the way back to the main road, I stopped at the paddock for pictures. When I got out of my car, I was suddenly approached by some creatures of a non-equestrian nature - hashcats! :3 I could see four cats in all, two of which seemed interested enough to get within a few yards of me. One of these walked up close and rubbed against my legs, which I took as ~~permission~~ an order to commence with petting. Hashcat achieved!
