Red Velvet was going to be busy most nights this week and supported Angel Food's idea of going to this one which was only about half an hour away. The overhead picture showed a grassy area under some power lines leading close the the point in the woods with just a small stream to cross. Over head pictures are deceiving! Much of the grass was knee high and wet from the day of rain and the woods were a mixture of bramble and mud. Luckily we dodged all of the velociraptors. The stream was over 5 ft wide at the first point we found it and the fallen trees didn't look very appealing. Angel Food had studied the overhead picture and was prepared for this and lead the way to a trail crossing just a little farther west. Turns out the metal pipes weren't part of a trail crossing, they were just there with a board leaning against the far bank. It was enough to get to the other side. More mud and brambles later, we found the point and took our photographs. On the way back, we used the fallen trees which now looked large, stable, and close to the way out. Red Velvet was tired, cold and wet and forgot to get out the cake. No cake today :(.
