I just had to make it to a geohash today, why not try the closest one first.
It was not too far from home so I drove out to see how the field was like. If it was ok, I could use it today, otherwise I had planned other geohash locations for this leap day. When I arrived I changed to wellingtons, and during that time the dog owner from the closest house showed up to check for their mail. I had to wait it out, while looking like I was searching for photographic opportunities or birds to photograph. Carrying a camera around always lessens the what-are-you-doing-here factor. When the dog owner went back to their house I could sneak out in the field hiding in the fog. Made my way trough mud eventually reaching the geohash. Took the photographs and was very pleased with being able to fill that empty hole in my a-geohash-per-calendar day. Made my way back and changed footwear before driving another way back to make sure I got those GPS traces for openstreetmap. Did see some other types of fields that could have been the one to cross today. Made sure I also found at least five geocaches on my way back home.
