Expedition

After months of monitoring the Albert Lea graticule, Mark found fair coordinates and a good reason to drive all the way out to them. Less than half an hour from his grandparents, who he was visiting for Easter, and somewhat in the direction of home. The hash point made a good detour on the Sunday-evening drive back to Rochester.

Driving was easy on the beautiful spring evening, and Google's directions took him well to the location, only bottoming out the car once on a tall ridge in the middle of the gravel road. Being more cautious after the first ridge, Mark drove around the remaining road elements rather than over. These roads are clearly made for truck and tractor, not car.

The grass ditch was nice and flat by the hash point, and the field empty, so conditions were good. After a few minutes of walking in circles, trying to get the GPS to zero out, Mark finally gave up and called the coordinates reached. Pictures were taken, and a good drive home was had.
