Expedition

Danatar

I went to Lake Constance for a Christmas visit to my grandparents (and to meet my parents who were there, too), so I had to drive along the Autobahn A81 from one end to the other. I took the exit Empfingen and quickly reached Gruol. Near the trout farm I parked my car on the side of the road next to the fishing pond and started to walk towards the hashpoint. The ground was icy and slippery and I mostly walked on the grass next to the road. After half the distance, I found out that I had left the paper with the coordinates on it in the car, so I walked back. It was going downhill and I had some fun by "surfing" on the icy road. Then I set out again and I soon was near the hashpoint. The whole time the sun was shining and I enjoyed it very very much, since because of the short autumn/winter days and my long working hours (and bad weather on my days off) I haven't been touched by sunshine for weeks.

The hashpoint was on the slope leading down to the creek, and that slope was very steep (about 100% decline or more), but I managed to reach the hashpoint without falling down (which would have meant to fall down, down, down and into the water, with broken bones from hitting all the trees). I took some pictures and thought about building a marker, but I didn't have much time so I didn't do that.

Instead I crawled back up the slope and went back to the car. There I tried to pet the horses that were held in a pasture next to the fishing pond, but they ignored me, so I drove on. The roads to the Autobahn (I aimed for a different exit in order to avoid a detour) were still lined and sometimes covered with snow, but I got there without wrecking the car. At the restaurant where my family was having lunch I arrived only 20 minutes later than planned, and before the first course was served.

This was my one hundredth attempt at visiting a hashpoint.
