Left the N34 W78 Geohash and headed south to Southport for a fun coastal geohash.
Finding the Geohash was easy, right off the road at the entrance to a fancy-pants subdivision.
Sure drew some curious looks from the passing traffic as we made our hash marker.
Purchased a post card at the CVS drug store located less than 1 kilometer from the hash. Then drove to the post office (which was closed - but we had purchased the necessary postage earlier this morning) to write and mail our very first hash card.
We planned to take the ferry from Southport to Fort Fisher and frolic in the surf.
Ate a late lunch while waiting for the ferry, then we loaded about 1645. The cost was $5.00US.

It was a short trip across the Sound (technically the Cape Fear River).
Fort Fisher State Recreation Area has free beach access. A fun way to spend the afternoon. We had just missed a wedding on the beach.
A nice lady took our picture for the Buccaneer Geohash Achievement. Sorry that we are reusing the same costumes, but Bear can't travel to a coastal area without honoring her pillaging ancestry.
Fort Fisher was a Confederate stronghold guarding the port of Wilmington.
We walked around the old fort, which was one of the largest earthwork fortifications built during the War Between the States, and stumbled across yet another wedding party.
