The hashpoint was east of Mattisudden, 200 m up a hill.

I started out around 4 PM, drove south along E10 to Gällivare. I then continued on E45 (which was a very nice, flat and wide road) towards Porjus and Jokkmokk. This area is known for its hydropower, there were lots of powerlines crossing the road and I drove past several dams.

I crossed the arctic circle by mistake (it was 1 km south of the hash) when looking for a place to turn around.

The hashpoint was very difficult to reach, it was only 200 m from the road but there was a lot of snow (up to my waist in many places) and it was very wet (it had been raining the whole day). I pushed on and eventually got close enough to declare it a success. I'm not happy with the GPS reading, but it's within accuracy so it'll have to do.

When I got back to the car, I was soaked. Of course, I had not brought any spare clothes. To avoid catching a cold, I had to drive home with no pants on. I had planned to stop and take some photos of Jokkmokk and the dams, but I didn't feel comfortable doing this in only my underwear.

the ru earned the Virgin Graticule Achievement by being the first to reach any hashpoint in the (66, 20) graticule, here, on 2009-04-27.

the ru has achieved Level 5 of the Minesweeper Geohash achievement by visiting coordinates in Kiruna, Sweden and 5 of the surrounding graticules.

the ru earned the Drowned Rat Geohash Honourable Mention by reaching the (66, 20) geohash on 2009-04-27 despite being partially wet from wading through waist-deep wet snow.
