Report

This was the closest Geohash to date and our fourth consecutive. We found much of the land in the area posted (can’t say we blame them, we posted our land too), but the block of land containing our hash was not. The community was dotted with abandoned buildings, burned out single-wide trailers, beautiful sprawling farms, and small churches…typical of this part of the graticule.

We parked along the road’s edge and walked into the woods due south about 100 meters, encountering very few raptor traps, but many fallen pine trees. The hash location was a peaceful hollow blanketed in pine needles. Perfect for a teddy bear picnic. Bear served up her wonderful cocoa hot from the thermos, and with some chocolate-chunk macadamia cookies we enjoyed the serenity.

On the way out we picked up trash just inside the woods and along the road side…more of a thank-you to the property owner for allowing us this brief visit.

  • We achieved the Reverse-Region for N36 W78, having geohashed in the State of Virginia (2008-12-27_36_-78) and now in the State of North Carolina.
